Overview
The PhD programme focuses on the role of health-threatening microorganisms and damage to health caused by environmental factors. Both epidemiologic and experimental studies are necessary to identify the physical and chemical effects that cause health problems. The courses of the Medical Microbiology and Preventive Medicine programmes are combined in this Graduate School and offer a wide variety of research opportunities. The major goal of our programme is to train young professionals who have active and comprehensive knowledge of the structure and function of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, molecular organisation, physiology and special attributes of microbes. The training provided by our programme endows students with the ability to conduct independent research.
Research programmes: Role of Cytokine in Infectious and Non-Microbial Diseases; Molecular Mechanisms in the Development and Prevention of Chronic Infectious Diseases; Pathogenicity of Microorganisms; Antimicrobial Chemotherapy and Prophylaxis; Genomics of Pathogenic Organisms; Preventive Medicine; Impact of Social, Economic and Life Style Factors on the Health Status of the Population; Experimental Investigation of Nervous System Damages Caused by Xenobiotics Emitted to the Environment by Human Activity; Biostatistics. For research topics please consult the programme website.
