Overview
The Hungarian Studies Center offers a comprehensive one or two-semester preparatory programme for foreigners who wish to study Hungarian as a foreign language and Hungarian culture in English.
Hungarian as a foreign language is taught at five different levels from beginner to advanced. Students can choose language courses at different intensities from 2 to 8 hours per week. During the fall semester we offer pronunciation practice in a language lab.
Besides language learning, students are offered lectures in English in the field of Hungarian history, linguistics and Hungarian culture (Hungarian literature, film, art history, cultural geography, folklore and music).
The Hungarian language and culture preparatory programme starts with an orientation week to help students prepare for their studies. Besides practical issues, at the beginning of the fall semester, students participate in a cultural sensitization training that familiarizes them with the new culture and learning environment and offers ways of overcoming potential problems.
At the end of the spring semester, students are eligible for reduced pricing to attend the 4-week intensive Summer University organized by the Hungarian Studies Center.
