Tuition fee | €3,500 per semester The schedule of tuition fee payment is determined on the basis of consulate/visa regulations. In case of applicants coming from visa restricted countries, payment of the full tuition fee (1st and 2nd semester) is required. Details will be indicated in the letter of admission. In case of visa rejection or other circumstances beyond the applicant’s control which prevent the applicant from starting their studies, a postponement for the next academic year/semester or a full refund can be requested. To request a refund, applicants must submit an official refund request along with the official documentation that proves the reason why they cannot start their studies. Entry qualification | Graduate / Masters' Degree (or higher) Who should apply? We expect applicants to be interested in the contemporary developments and challenges in literature and culture, literary and cultural heritage worldwide, and languages in general. It is an advantage if the applicant has an MA in literary studies, languages, philosophy, cultural studies, theatre or film studies, or translation. Please choose a topic proposal and contact the doctoral school and the relevant supervisor of the Doctoral School The entry qualification documents are accepted in the following languages: English. Often you can get a suitable transcript from your school. If this is not the case, you will need official translations along with verified copies of the original. Academic Records in English or certified translation. You must take the original entry qualification documents along with you when you finally go to the university. |

Overview
The sub-programme French-literatures-and-cultures is committed to preparing doctoral students for an academic career and helps students to become competent and highly qualified in french literature qnd theory. The courses of the proramme are based on the long-term and current research programmes of the Department of French Studies.
Students pursuing French-language-literature PhD are offered supervised topics linked to the research projects of the departments such as
- literary and
- cultural and
- media studies and
- theoretical and
- historical pespectives in research.
Besides a strong foundation in philology the emphasis will be laid on interdisciplinary research fields. Concerning the epochs and periods of literature the program offers a wide spectrum from the early modern period and 18th and 19th century literary modernism and the literature of Modernism and the present with special emphasis on the francophone literature and culture.
